Shotput program

Description of the shotput program used in my Bachelor thesis.

This program has been designed in order to simulate ballistic movements of simple objects (like a sphere) near the earth surface (g=9.81 m/s/s). The program itself was part of my Bachelor thesis and has been improved in order to guarantee usability for other users.

The basic requirements for the program are either:

  • Windows PC (at least Windows XP)
  • .NET Framework 2.0
  • Like 200 kB of free space


  • Linux
  • The MONO Framework 2.0 or higher
  • Like 200 kB of free space

The program is an executable file (*.exe) which can be downloaded and used for free.

The main functions of the program are:

  • Calculation of ballistic movement including wind velocity
  • Changeable constants (drag coefficient, air density, radius, mass)
  • Data can be saved (XML) or exported to MatLab importable data Data can be loaded (XML)
  • The precision can be set
  • Possible to start variations on certain parameters (start velocity, angle, height, ...)
